·Dictionary Project This
is a Rotary district wide literacy project which unites 43 clubs in
Hillsborough, Hardee, Polk and Highlands Counties. District Rotarians
raised enough money to buy new dictionaries and volunteered to
distribute them to every one of the 21,410 fifth grade children in the 4
counties. Some of the areas have from 30% to 50% lower income
underprivileged students. In Town and Country alone our club distributed
nearly 1000 dictionaries to 6 schools. These schools include Bay Crest,
West Chase, Morgan Woods, Northwest, Bellamy and Town and Country
Elementary.

Country Rotary Club has adopted a mile stretch of Memorial Road in
Tampa. Road Clean Ups happen several times a year. Our Interact
Clubs help with this project.
Interact Clubs Interact clubs provide
opportunities for boys and girls of secondary school age to work
together in a world fellowship of service and international
understanding. The term, Interact, is derived from "inter" for
international, and "act" for action. Every Interact club must be
sponsored and supervised by a Rotary club and must plan annual
projects of service to its school, community and in the world. We
sponsor Interact clubs in both Alonso and LetoHigh Schools.
Elementary Tutoring and Mentoring
Programs Do you remember an
adult who made a real difference in your life...someone you looked up
to...went to for advice? Maybe it was a teacher, a neighbor or a
family friend, but it was definitely someone you will never forget.
We have a program set up at Town and Country Elementary for children
who really need an adult to encourage them and help them become all
they can be. You can take just a little of your time and make a big
difference in a child's life.
S4TL The Seminar For
Tomorrow's Leaders (S4TL) is a week long seminar, held at the Florida
Southern College in Lakeland.
Delegates to the event are high school students that are entering
their senior year and are selected and sponsored by local Rotary Clubs
in southwest Florida. Most of the delegates will be in some type
leadership role during their senior year. The skills that they learn
during this week prove to be immensely valuable.
Our members sponsor deserving students to go. Lucky Rotary members
visit for an assembly, lunch and get to participate with the students
in "more than" enlightening discussions about all types of issues.
Speech Contest Speech Competition
among High School students based upon the current Rotary International
theme. There are four rounds of competition and the winner goes to
the District contest.
